Covington, GA – June 6-9 – The Georgia Career and Technical Instruction (CTI) State Officers kicked off their term with a dynamic training session held June 6-9 in Covington, Georgia. Elected in April at the State Leadership Conference, these dedicated students were eager to begin their journey of leadership and service.
CTI Officer Training: Building a Strong Foundation
The CTI Officer Training was designed to equip the new officers with the skills and knowledge they need to excel. The agenda included a variety of activities aimed at fostering teamwork and personal growth.
During the CTI Officer Training, officers participated in icebreakers to build camaraderie and trust within the team. Emphasis was placed on professional etiquette through introductions and proper handshakes, ensuring officers are prepared for formal engagements. They engaged in team-building activities designed to enhance collaboration and communication among the officers. Detailed discussions helped them understand the responsibilities and expectations of their roles. Workshops on self-advocacy and confidence boosted their self-esteem and empowered them to represent themselves and their peers effectively. Finally, collaborative brainstorming led to the establishment of this year's theme- Find Your Path- which will guide their initiatives and events.
CTSO State Officer Training: Expanding Influence
Following their CTI-specific training, the officers joined peers from other Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center for a comprehensive CTSO State Officer Training. This year's theme, "Be an Influencer," underscored the importance of positive representation and leadership.
During the CTSO training, Georgia CTI State Officers engaged in networking opportunities that allowed them to meet and interact with officers from various CTSOs, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose. They participated in team-building activities, including challenging themselves to help their team win in the Mud Course and building confidence by being bounced into the lake from The Blob, all designed to strengthen interpersonal relationships and teamwork across different organizations. The officers attended workshops and projects focused on leadership skills, effective communication, and project management. Additionally, they undertook detailed preparations for their responsibilities, ensuring they are ready to lead and inspire their peers.
The training concluded with officers feeling empowered and ready to embark on a year of impactful service. They left with a clear understanding of how to be positive influencers within their schools, communities, and the broader Georgia CTI network.
