Georgia Career and Technical Instruction (CTI) Hosts Unforgettable Fall Leadership Conference
November 25, 2024 | Columbus, Georgia- Georgia CTI celebrated its annual Fall Leadership Conference (FLC) with a packed schedule of educational workshops, inspiring speakers, and networking opportunities for over 530 students, 95 CTI Coordinators, and 32 adult chaperones from 91 schools across the state. Held at the Columbus Trade and Convention Center, this transformative event brought together students, educators, and community leaders for an unforgettable experience.
A Spotlight on Leadership and Growth
Friday morning featured a series of leadership sessions designed to equip students with essential life skills. Workshops led by professionals from the University of Georgia, TRI, and CTI State Officers covered budgeting, time management, networking, and goal-setting. These sessions introduced students to skills that will help them excel in high school and beyond, including tools for preparing for job interviews, applying to college, and achieving personal goals.
Inspiring Speakers and Memorable Moments
The conference kicked off with the singing of the National Anthem, performed by Harris County’s Jennifer McDade. Brandon Strozier, Senior Director at Chick-fil-A, delivered a message, sharing his journey of service and dedication. Melisa Morrow from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta provided insights into their impactful Camps Program, funded by community contributions.
The event also included a powerful performance by country music duo KIT + CHAR from LaGrange, Georgia. Their message of letting your light shine, combined with performances of original songs and a crowd singalong to “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus, created an electric atmosphere.
Transition Fair and Community Engagement
The Transition Fair was another conference highlight. Students explored career and education opportunities with representatives from Columbus State University, Columbus Tech, South Georgia Tech, Troy University, ABAC, West Georgia Tech, Albany Tech’s LEAP Program, Roosevelt Warm Springs, and more. The fair included a Vision Board Room, team-building activities, and a community service project benefiting local senior citizens.
Academic and Chapter Achievements
The Academic Quiz Bowl tested students’ knowledge in social studies, math, language arts, spelling and current events, with awards presented by CTI Board Chair Bree Cagle. The Superior Chapter Awards recognized outstanding student efforts:
- Reserve Superior Chapter: Wayne County High School (Coordinator: Dr. Olivia Jern), receiving a $250 cash prize.
