For many of these students, this was their first opportunity to spend significant time together. Because Georgia CTI officers come from schools located across the state, they may only see one another in person a handful of times throughout the year. Building strong relationships early helps establish a foundation for collaboration, communication, and support throughout their term of service.
Following CTI Officer Training, the team traveled with Georgia Department of Education CTSO Program Specialist Ms. Lynsey Singleton to the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center for CTSO Officer Training. There, they joined state officers from CTSOs across Georgia for a weekend focused on leadership development, teamwork, and personal growth.
Students participated in workshops covering topics such as professional etiquette, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and leading by example. They were challenged to think about the impact they have on their organizations and how they can inspire and support future leaders within their CTSOs.
One of the most anticipated traditions of CTSO Officer Training is the annual Mud Course competition and an opportunity to take a leap from The Blob into the lake. While heavy rain altered those plans this year and only one team was able to complete the course, students still found plenty of opportunities for fun, connection, and teamwork. The evening concluded with team-building activities and karaoke, allowing students to relax, laugh, and continue building friendships with fellow leaders from across the state.
The lessons learned during this weekend extend far beyond leadership workshops. Students gained valuable experience working as part of a team, communicating with peers from different backgrounds, and understanding the importance of collaboration in achieving common goals.
As Georgia CTI looks ahead to the coming year, this training serves as an important reminder that strong leadership begins with strong relationships. By investing time in learning about themselves and one another, these student leaders are building the foundation necessary to serve Georgia CTI students with confidence, professionalism, and purpose.
